30Nights Canceled

Due to lack of student interest and scheduling problems, 30Nights, the party named after the number of days left until graduation and scheduled to take place Wednesday night, was canceled. The cancellation was made a day before the party was set to take place because of a low number of ticket sales, head of the Senior Committee Dylan Guyer said. Ticket holders will be reimbursed $10 from pre-sales. The decision was made after the pre-sales of 150-200 tickets, short of the intended 300 tickets. Guyer said in an e-mail announcing the event's cancelation that they expected to sell an additional 150 tickets at the door.

"We didn't want to throw an event that did not live up to its expectation," Guyer, a Brown College senior, said.

30Nights was slated to be held last Wednesday at the club Element. It would have been the second senior party this semester. The first, 100Days, was well-attended and filled the club to capacity with 650 students.

Guyer said 30Nights was created to supplement the fundraising efforts of 100Days. Both events are the main sources of fundraising for the annual Senior Gala, which is expected to cost $17,000. The Senior Gala will be held at Hotel Derek on April 29. The committee is looking into corporate sponsorships to cover the remaining costs.
