NOTES ON INTERPRETATION
QUALITY:
Quality is the average student response to the question, "Overall, I would rate the quality of this course as ..." Quality is ranked on a scale of 1-5, with 1 being the highest quality, 5 the lowest. Thus, the courses with the quality ranking closest to 1 have been evaluated as the highest quality courses.
WORKLOAD:
Workload is the average student response to the question, "The workload for this course compared to others at Rice was ..." Workload is ranked on a scale of 1-5, with 1 being the easiest workload, 5 the hardest. Thus, the courses with the work load closest to 1 have been evaluated as the easiest courses.
RESULTS
The quality rankings are always on the lefthand side, the workload rankings on the right. As a result of the numbering system employed by the Registrar's Office, the best-quality and easiest-workload courses are at the top of their department's charts. The lowest-ranked and most difficult courses fall at the bottom of the charts. The gray bars running below each chart mark the space between 2 and 3, for reference. The average quality and workload for each school and department is also listed.

Scott Abell named football head coach
Rice football has hired Scott Abell as the program’s 20th head coach, according to an announcement from director of athletics Tommy McClelland, who led a national search to fill the position.
Local Foods launches in newly renovated Brochstein space
Local Foods Market opened at Brochstein Pavilion Nov. 19, replacing comfort food concept Little Kitchen HTX. The opening, previously scheduled for the end of September, also features interior renovations to Brochstein. Local Foods is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
Scan, swipe — sorry
Students may need to swipe their Rice IDs through scanners before entering future public parties, said dean of undergraduates Bridget Gorman. This possible policy change is not finalized, but in discussion among student activities and crisis management teams.
