2/18/10 6:00pm

THE QUESTIONS

1. Tell us about your band.

2. What's with the name?

3. What kind of music do you play?

4. Got a Web site?

5. What is your spirit animal?

6: Team Edward or Team Jacob?

The Smoking Section

The Smoking Section

1. We're all juniors from the North Colleges and have been playing together for the last year and a half. Page Robinson sings lead, Erik Tanner plays guitar, Austin Edwards is our bass player, MK Quinn sings and plays keys and Daniel Hays and Mark Hoffman provide the percussion.

2. It dawned on us at the President's Study Break last winter when we were all outside after playing. Before that, we had been known as Page Robinson and Her Band.

3. We play a mix of blues, rock, soul and jazz, depending on the crowd.

4. We're on Facebook!

5. Wild turkey

6. We don't know what this is asking, but if Team Jacob is somehow related to Jacobitism and the restoration of the Stuarts to the English throne, then most certainly Team Jacob.

Hottie Pippen

Hottie Pippen

1. Imagine driving through the slummiest of slums. You look to the side of the road and see an 80-year-old crack addict gingerly snacking on a box of Kashi cereal. This defines Hottie Pippen - Kashi in the ghetto. Band members are James Kohli, Connor Hayes, and sometimes Matt Taylor. He's like a "y" if we're vowels.

2. We always thought Scottie Pippen was the best looking Bull.

3. Electronic/Hip-Hop/God-knows-what

4. You can listen to one of our songs at www.soundcloud.com/mebyme/.

5. Leonardo DiCaprio

6. We have absolutely no idea what this means, so once again we're going to go with Leonardo DiCaprio.

Office Party

 Office Party

1. Since the dawn of time, Gods have walked amongst us. Yet only now do they make themselves known. Soaring down from Olympus on their eagles of truth, Office Party plays rock music and is from Jones College. Our members are Jesus Cortez, Ryan Oringer, Shawdon Molavi, and Daniel Sprinkle. United this year, they are Houston's 49th-ranked rock band on ReverbNation, despite having played no shows. But seriously, Office Party is about having fun, playing good music, and taking amazing pictures. Office Optional. Tie and Party Required. Come out to the battle and have a good time!

2. After a night of heavy drinking, two of the members of Office Party experienced mystical adventures, all while wearing ties. This inspired them to throw a large-scale party with an office theme. The party was a huge hit, and the name "Office Party" became synonymous with fun and excitement.

3. Rock music, with a unique sound focused on catchy riffs. The addition of a synthesizer gives us a dynamic and quality sound.

4. www.reverbnation.com/officeparty or search us on Facebook.

5. We believe our picture makes it explicitly clear.

6. Eagles rule.

Limmerik

 Limmerik

1. I was born Ikechi Mbanefo Nnamani on Oct. 27, 1990 in Normal, Ill. My family is originally from Nigeria; my parents immigrated to the U.S. in the late '70s. I began writing lyrics at age 13, recorded my first album at age 15 and am currently working on my sixth album. I began making and producing beats at age 15, and have fully produced four of the six albums I've created. I have also produced for American, Nigerian, Greek, and German hip-hop artists.

2. The name for my production company is "kech phrase," like "catch phrase." I took the "kech" out of Ikechi and formed the name. Limmerik is derived from the Irish word Limerick (a form of poetry/rhyme), I took out the "c," added another "m" and joined the "ik." The extra "m" is for Mbanefo, my middle name, joined with the "ik" for Ikechi, my first name. Kech Phrase & Limmerik have became interchangeable so it's whatever you prefer.

3. Mainly hip-hop and rap, a lot of East Coast and mainstream vibes.

4. www.myspace.com/limmerik or go on Facebook and join the Limmerik fan page.

5. I'd probably say a Bear or a Bull (Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, etc).

6. I've never watched Twilight, so I'd say both?

Brian Connor Hollowwa

Brian Connor Hollowwa

1. Brian Connor Hollowwa is an acoustic duo formed by Baker College seniors Brian Connor and Connor Hollowwa. Brian is from California and is a piano performance major at the Shepherd School of Music. Connor is from New Mexico and is going to dentistry school after graduating. We don't have a photo of us as a band, but we hope this picture of a shark eating us works.

2. Brian's last name is the same thing as Connor's first name.

3. We both play acoustic guitar and Brian sings. We play folksy/poppy songs.

4. No Web site yet. But you can find songs on Grooveshark by searching "Brian Connor."

5. Platypus

6. Team Platypus

The Beat

The Beat

1. Charles Edgar first emerged from the primordial ooze long ago to begin his eternal search for The Beat. For centuries he roamed the cosmos, pausing in his great quest only to locate more Vicks Vapo-Rub to preserve The Voice. One day, Charles Edgar happened upon the extraordinary Christopher, alone in a vast cavern, interfacing with the legendary Slam Chang over a distance of many sound-years. Christopher decided to suspend his Epic Jam Session to assist Charles Edgar in his quest for The Beat. There have recently been scattered rumors of a long-lost tribe that has since been found; their rhythm is beginning to resonate throughout the universe. In space, everyone can feel The Beat.

2. A good beat is hard to find.

3. ElectroBuzzzz

4. Nope.

5. A robotic eagle with a digital soul.

6. TEAM EDWARD
