SA General Election Results

In the Student Association general elections, held from Feb. 18-24, students flexed their civic muscles. The ballot featured 22 positions and eight proposed amendments. Candidates who did not win are given in parentheses. Also be sure to take a look at the official election results page on the SA website.

SA External VP Carl Nelson "I'm excited to start working with everyone on the Executive Committee next year."

SA Internal VP Ryan Fleming "I can't say I was nervous, but I'm excited to be internal vice president, I can't wait to put together an agenda for next year."
SA Treasurer Lemuel Soh "To me, this day represents more than getting a job, but a sign that Rice University believe[s] in me and has given me as an opportunity to serve as SA Treasurer."

Honor Council Junior Reps. Kern Vijayvargiya "It's interesting campaigning for Honor Council because we're not allowed to actually campaign -- [we] just have to count on other people."

Local Foods launches in newly renovated Brochstein space

Local Foods Market opened at Brochstein Pavilion Nov. 19, replacing comfort food concept Little Kitchen HTX. The opening, previously scheduled for the end of September, also features interior renovations to Brochstein. Local Foods is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

Scan, swipe — sorry

Students may need to swipe their Rice IDs through scanners before entering future public parties, said dean of undergraduates Bridget Gorman. This possible policy change is not finalized, but in discussion among student activities and crisis management teams.
