Board of Trustees gains four new members over summer

The Rice University Board of Trustees added four new members starting July 1, three of whom are Rice alumni, according to a Rice News press release. The alumni are Khan Academy chairperson Ann Doerr (Jones ‘75), Stellus Capital Management managing partner Robert Ladd (Wiess ‘78) and Covariance Capital Management president Scott Wise (Will Rice ‘71); the fourth member, Riverstone Holdings partner James Hackett, formerly served as a trustee from 2010 to 2013.

Silva proposes mandatory sex-ed course for first year students, seeks SA approval

Rice University Student Association President Jazz Silva has proposed a mandatory sexual education class for first year students starting next year as a measure to reduce the prevalence of sexual assault on campus.

The sixth president of Rice University passes away at age 74

Malcolm Gillis, the sixth president of Rice University, died of cancer on Sunday, Oct. 4. He was 74.
