The economics and mathematical economic analysis curriculum is undergoing extensive changes for the 2015-16 school year and beyond, according to Chair of Economics George Zodrow. The changes will be mandatory only for students matriculating in and after 2015.

Rice University has taken early steps toward green power and sustainability by signing a one-year contract with MP2 Energy, a renewable energy company. This agreement signifies that an average of seven percent of Rice’s power supply will come from solar energy, according to Richard Johnson, director of Rice’s Administrative Center for Sustainability and Energy Management.

Rice students can now officially start learning about the brain as a field of study. On Jan. 30, 2013, the proposal for a neuroscience minor at Rice was approved by the Faculty Senate, so students graduating in 2014 or later can now minor in neuroscience.

If you have ever wondered what it is like to be a police officer, you are in luck. Starting Feb. 12, the Rice University Police Department will be hosting its ninth annual Citizens Police Academy that is designed to give students insight into life behind the badge. The Academy is free and open to not only Rice students and faculty, but also members of the Houston community.
