On Sept. 12, 1962, United States President John F. Kennedy famously declared at Rice University: "We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard." This statement inspired this year's TEDxHouston theme and location on Rice's campus. However, besides its focus on "the other things," something else was very different this time. While Kennedy spoke to a crowd of 30,000 members of the Rice and Houston communities, at TEDxHouston, there was a lack of both.

International Criminal Court Investigation Coordinator Alex Whiting spoke on Jan. 19 to a group of students, faculty and outside guests on the ICC's mission to correct international violations of justice.
