This past weekend, Rice University faced fellow Texan teams Texas Christian University and Southern Methodist University. After losing in a 7-0 match against TCU on Saturday, the Owls managed to beat rival SMU 4-2 and improved their record to 9-12.

The men's tennis team continued their road trip by visiting Evanston, Ill. to face Northwestern University and Cornell University. On Friday, Feb. 7, the Owls lost 4-0 to Northwestern while on Saturday, Feb. 8, the Owls lost to Cornell 6-1. The Owls have a two-week break ahead of them and will not play another match until they take on the University of Louisiana, Lafayette on Sunday, Feb. 23 at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium.

The men's tennis team lost both of its matches over the weekend, losing 5-2 to Mississippi State University and 4-2 to Texas Tech University. Rice will stay on the road with matchups against Northwestern University and Cornell University this weekend, both away games in Evanston, Ill.

As 2014 begins, the Rice University men's tennis team is ready to jump-start its season with home matches this week against the University of Texas, Austin and Louisiana State University. After a 4-0 loss to the University of Memphis in the Conference USA semifinals last season, the Owls have their eyes set on the main prize this year: the C-USA Championship.

The Rice men's basketball team fell short Friday, Nov. 15, losing to Texas A&M University 68-65 in College Station. Both teams had multiple chances to take the lead throughout the game, but the score remained close. Ultimately, with the game tied at 65-65 and 10 seconds left on the board, Texas A&M sunk a game-winning 3-pointer to give the Aggies the win.

The Rice University men's basketball team kicked off its season Nov. 9 in Tudor Fieldhouse with a 69-60 win against the University of St. Thomas. The team was looking to start the season strong after a difficult season last year that ended 5-26 and was marked by six players' abrupt transfers from Rice.

In an exciting overtime clash, the Rice Owls lost 4-3 against Colorado College. Rice then went on to lose 5-2 to FIU, bringing its conference record to 3-4-0.

Returning home for the weekend, Rice women's soccer played the University of North Texas on Friday night, winning 4-0, and lost 1-0 Sunday to the University of Tulsa in a game aired on national television. The team looks to improve its conference record, now at .500, with a win on the road this Saturday, when it faces the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss.

The Rice Owls women's soccer team started conference play with a weekend on the road, playing both the University of Texas, El Paso and the University of Texas, San Antonio. Rice defeated the UTEP Miners 2-1 on Friday, earning the team its first conference win. The Owls then traveled to San Antonio, where they lost to the UTSA Roadrunners, bringing their conference record to 1-1.
