Tuition, financial aid to increase for next academic year

The total cost of undergraduate attendance at Rice University is projected to increase by 3.2 percent to $61,345 for the 2018-2019 academic year, according to Vice President for Finance Kathy Collins. The total price covers tuition, mandatory fees, and room and board expenses.

Rice applications top 20,000 for the first time

This marked the largest year-to-year increase in applicants to Rice in the school’s history, according to Rice News Vice President for Enrollment Yvonne M. Romero da Silva. She said there was also a 19 percent increase in early decision applicants.

​Fondren to continue campuswide New York Times access

A campuswide New York Times subscription will be renewed for the 2018-19 academic year and will be funded by Fondren Library, according to assistant university librarian Kerry Keck. Fondren will also continue to provide complimentary access to the Wall Street Journal.

Alumnus speaks on challenges faced as a vegan at Rice

Anuj Shah, an alumnus from Baker College (’92) and immigration lawyer, spoke to the Rice Vegan Society last Thursday about his experience switching to veganism as an undergraduate, including a fight with Rice administration over meal plans and opposition he faced from the student body.

Engles, Wickerson and Loh win contested SA races

Lovett College Senator Ariana Engles will serve as the next Student Association president following her victory over three competitors in the 2018 election. Brown College Senator Grace Wickerson won the race for SA internal vice president and SA deputy treasurer Lauren Loh won for treasurer.
