Dialogues regarding sexual health and well-being at Rice and at college campuses across the U.S. often neglect one important issue: STI testing and accessibility.
Hi, my name is Mitch, and I’ll guide you through the second installment of the Rice University Tour of Publically Neglected Outdoor Spaces.. Many outdoor spaces on campus exceed in beauty but sit unused. Let’s see if we can spot them.
The Student Association Senate’s creation of a task force to explore the state of pre-health advising at Rice has drawn some attention to the purpose of the SA in recent weeks.
There are two glaring problems with how the Blanket Tax Committee allocated initiative funds this year.
At this week’s Student Association meeting, current Rice Program Council Treasurer Ameesh Shah was nearly unanimously appointed as the SA’s first deputy treasurer (see "RPC treasurer appointed deputy treasurer of Student Association"). While we do not doubt Shah’s competence in performing the duties of the deputy treasurer, Shah’s current position as the treasurer of RPC, a blanket tax subsidiary organization, raises concerns about a conflict of interest. SA President Griffin Thomas dismissed these concerns at the SA meeting; his argument was that a conflict would have arisen only if Shah were the treasurer, not the deputy.
For several years, significant concerns have been raised about advising for almost every pre-professional track other than the pre-health one.
Some brief information, before I get started: Komal Luthra, a member of the Student Association executive team, brought this bill forward to create a small task force to investigate the state of pre-health advising at Rice.
Please explain to me why you would accommodate anyone directing a “stigma” against anyone (see "RAMHA brings National Mental Health Awareness Week to Rice") ‘Advocacy for’ “Advocacy For” is the positive use of language to achieve positive goals.
Mr. Tolpadi’s piece entitled “Told by Tolpadi: After football’s brutal start, it is time for Bailiff to go” is arguably the most cogent argument I have seen to date for the firing of David Bailiff as head football coach of Rice University.
Re: the “low sexual desire reader” (assuming it is not a joke). Lack of a “target rich environment,” or whatever, may not be the reason for the reader’s low sexual desire.
A breakdown of Rice’s endowment indicates that 12 percent is invested in natural resources (see p.
This is the last week to register to vote in Texas for the upcoming election, and we implore you to do so.
I don’t think the Thresher staff fully thought through the consequences of their condemnation of third-party voting in last week’s editorial.
There are many strong logical and emotional reasons to vote for Hillary Clinton in an effort to stop Donald Trump.
It seems as though the poverty- and filth-ridden image of India most people have in their minds has given way to a new stereotype that paints the entire subcontinent as a unidimensional group of people whose only contribution to society is plastic sacks of colored powder.
Student responses to last year’s Survey of All Students encapsulate the emphasis we collectively place on our education: Three times as many students selected teaching for undergraduates as the key priority for the Student Association as any other area.
For many Rice students, voting Donald Trump for the presidency is out of the question, but Hillary Clinton may not be the clear alternative.
For the past nine months, I feel like I’ve been struggling with low sexual desire. People I’d normally be sexually attracted to don’t interest me anymore, even though I’m pretty sure my physical sexual functioning is fine.
