A Rice student was allegedly robbed at gunpoint by two African-American men near Entrance 23, next to the Martel College parking lot, at 9 p.m. on May 6. The suspects allegedly took the student's cash and car keys before running away, and the student was unharmed, according to Rice University Police Department's Interim Police Captain Clemente Rodriguez.
Sharon Bush, the associate director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, died on April 29 while on medical leave from the university, according to Associate Provost of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion Roland Smith.

According to Meyer, a senior, the new distinction would serve as a complement to the President's Cup. However, while all residential colleges and the Graduate Student Association compete in intramural sports for the President's Cup, the Dean's Cup would only include undergraduates.
